Thank you for choosing The Smile Clinic as your dental practice.

This leaflet tells you all about our practice. Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to speak to Miss Laura Shaw on reception who will be able to assist you.We provide the full range of NHS treatment (plus limited orthodontics appointments) to all members of the public, adults/children and NHS exempt patients.

We also provide private treatment, including cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics to improve your smile.

NHS and Private treatment can be mixed.

GP details
A note of any medication that you maybe taking
Proof of any exemption.

What should I expect on my first visit?

You will be welcomed by the receptionist who will ask you to complete a confidential medical history form. This information will be added to our secure computer records. The dentist will try to see you on time however if there is any delay then the receptionist will inform you in advance.

Once you have seen the dentist he/she will provide you with details of your personal treatment plan with alternative costs and options involved, which you will be asked to sign. Another appt maybe arranged to complete your treatment or you may be referred for a specialist service. You will be asked to sign any relevant NHS forms.

Full payment for your treatment will be required at this visit

NHS treatments are available
Monday-Friday 9.00-5.00pm

Complaints procedure

We aim to make your experience at the practice as pleasurable as possible. However, should you have any complaints, please contact Laura Shaw on reception who will be able to deal with your complaint and talk you through our procedure. Alternatively, you can pick up a copy of the procedure from reception.

Patient Confidentiality

We take patient confidentiality extremely seriously at The Smile Clinic and all personal information is treated in the strictest confidence. Only members of staff have access to patient information and we have a strict confidentiality policy. To see a copy of this policy, please ask at reception. 

Other Information?

You can express a preference about which dentist you will see. We will make all reasonable efforts to ensure that the request is met, but this may not always be possible. Should you wish to express a preference of practitioner, please state who you would like to be seen by when booking your appointment

Whilst we would like to be able to see all patients, due to the nature of the practice building, our treatment areas are accessible to wheelchairs on the ground floor. However our bathroom facilities are not. If you do have any disability that you think we need to know about please give us a call before your appointment and
we will do our best to put suitable arrangements in place to accommodate your needs.

Patients maybe refused NHS treatment for
Missing appts
Failure to provide 24hrs notice
Violent or abusive behaviour towards staff

Our practice policy is that if, on more than one occasion, patients cancel with less
than 24 hours’ notice or do not attend an appointment, in a period of one year then
we will no longer be able to offer NHS treatment.

We will of course take any special circumstances into account.
We may still be able to offer private dental care, but will require a non-refundable deposit

What are the NHS dental charges?

NHS DENTAL CHARGES
The three NHS charge bands are as follows:

Band 1: £18.80.

This charge includes an examination, diagnosis and preventive advice. If necessary,
it also includes X-rays, scale and polish and planning for further treatment.

Band 2: £51.30.

This charge includes all the necessary treatment covered by the £17.00 charge,
plus additional treatment, such as fillings, root canal treatment or extractions.

Band 3: £222.50.

This charge includes all the necessary treatment that is covered by Band 1 and Band 2,
plus more complex procedures, such as crowns, dentures and bridges

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept the following methods of payment: Cash, cheque (made out to The Smile Clinic)
and debit cards. A 2% surcharge applies to NHS fees paid by Credit Card only.
